The AMSIG Executive, Organising Committee and Organisers have been closely following the latest information provided by the Australian Government regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19), and will continue to monitor their recommendations.

Based on current information, the AMSIG Meeting will continue as scheduled from the 1-3 May in Sydney. Current containment efforts on the part of the Australia Government appear to have been effective in limiting the spread of COVID-19.

We are in regular contact with the SMC Conference and Function Centre who are increasing sanitation measures and cleaning and adhering to Department of Health recommendations.

We do take the health and safety of our delegates and speakers seriously and recommend the following precautions prior to and during the AMSIG Meeting:

  1. If you are unwell, please do not attend the conference.

  2. Do not attend if you have been in or transited through mainland China, Iran, Northern Italy or the Republic of Korea in the past 14 days.

  3. The best way to protect yourself and others is to practise good hygiene by:

    • covering coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues or coughing/sneezing into your elbow

    • disposing of used tissues appropriately in a bin

    • washing hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water and drying them thoroughly, or using hand sanitiser:

      • before eating or handling food

      • after using the toilet

      • after coughing, sneezing, blowing your nose or wiping children’s noses

      • after touching public surfaces

    • trying to keep a metre away from people who are unwell

    • adopt a “social distancing” approach – substitute a friendly smile and wave for the handshake or kisses.

Do not attend if you have been in or transited through mainland China, Iran, Northern Italy or the Republic of Korea in the 14 days prior to the AMSIG 2020 meeting
