Radiology Victoria offers a 12-month Musculoskeletal Imaging Fellowship based at Epworth Geelong, providing advanced training in musculoskeletal radiology through a high-volume and diverse caseload across MRI, CT and ultrasound.
Fellows will gain experience in the interpretation of sports injuries, shoulder, hip, knee, ankle and wrist pathology, cartilage and labral imaging, arthropathy, inflammatory disease and peripheral nerve imaging. The fellowship also includes ultrasound assessment of tendons, ligaments and soft tissue injuries, as well as CT interpretation of complex fractures, orthopaedic pre-operative planning and bone and joint pathology.
A strong focus is placed on image-guided musculoskeletal procedures, including ultrasound-guided joint and soft tissue injections, CT-guided spinal and peripheral injections, radiofrequency ablation and hydrodissection techniques.
Fellows will work closely with fellowship-trained musculoskeletal radiologists while developing reporting confidence, protocol optimisation knowledge and clinician liaison skills. Educational opportunities include structured teaching, journal clubs, self-directed learning and participation in research and quality improvement projects.
Highlights of the fellowship include exposure to elite sporting injuries through AFL, NBL and WNBL partnerships, collaboration with orthopaedic surgeons, sports physicians and rheumatologists, access to modern imaging equipment, and mentorship within a collegial and supportive team environment.
